Let me preface this review by saying that I have a black belt in furniture assembly. I have mastered the art of Ikea and I have rarely encountered a particle board that I could not whip into a sturdy glinting piece of furniture.But no matter how skilled you are at furniture assembly, there is just no escaping the fact that this item is shoddy, flimsy and abysmal in quality.In fact, once it was assembled, I immediately threw it out.The problem lies not in the instructions, which are idiot-proof.The issue is that the screws used to assemble them item are weak and lose their treads so easily that they can't be placed effectively.What's more, the particle board splinters and cracks so easily that its structural integrity is dubious at best.Moreover, the fake wood finish scratches off so readily that your item may very well be scarred and ugly by the time you get it put together.
So, yes, I succeeded in assembling it exactly according to the instructions. But the materials were so weak that the headboard was too rickety for me to consider keeping.I would have had to sleep underneath it every night, in fear of being beheaded when it finally decided to collapse.Seriously, I had to throw it out just to avoid a terrible, bloody, particle board-induced death.
Do not buy this item for anyone you love, including yourself.It may, however, make an awesome gift for your arch enemy.
